Our flight to Utah went perfectly. We had a dear friend drive with us to DFW and even though we got lost and took the back roads to the airport we still made it with tons of time to spare.
Last time we flew out of DFW it took us two hours to get through security. We made sure we had two hours to get through security but we didn't need it this time around. We checked in our bags and walked right through security without any wait.
So we had about an hour and a half to entertain Reese and Benson. We had to get creative but they had fun. We raced cars throughout the airport. I am sure people really appreciated our car racing but it kept Reese and Benson happy.
We also had the escalators right there next to our gate so we took turns riding them up and down and up and down. Reese and Benson were in heaven.
We pretty much caused a ruckus the whole time we were there. Reese was running around and Benson . . . well see for yourself.
He was content with one shoe and sock on, belly flopping on the floor, and then sucking the ground. Yes it was disgusting but so funny that I didn't stop him and took pictures instead!
Finally the moment came, it was time to board the airplane. I was super nervous to fly with Benson because he can't sit through one hour of sacrament meeting so how was he going to sit through a three hour flight? Then come to find out our airplane was an itty-bitty airplane and Benson could only sit on one side of the airplane, so we couldn't pass him back and forth.
Ben volunteered to sit with Benson and a miracle happened . . . Benson was an angel! We just kept feeding him treats and reading him books and switching out things for him to play with. The lady next to Ben was so patient and never got annoyed with our extremely wiggly baby boy.
Reese was a gem as well. That Tinkerbell backpack full of treasures was wonderful. It kept her so entertained and she never wanted to get out of her seat and run around.
We sat and colored and read books the whole time. We were both shocked that they did so well. Ben and I kept looking at each other and saying, "I can't believe how well they were doing". It was seriously a miracle.
Even though everyone did so well on the flight, we were all definitely ready to get off the airplane and begin our 3 1/2 week vacation by the time we landed.
