This is where the originally kept Joseph and the others, but after staying in this room and enduring horrible temperatures, the jailer moved them into his bedroom.
Carthage jail was a great experience. The spirit was so strong and the missionaries showed us around and bore testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith. How grateful I am to him for his faith and testimony and his willingness to truly live what he believed. I know he was a prophet of God and I am grateful for the experience that we had to visit the pioneer sites and have my testimony strengthened through the many testimonies that were borne yesterday.
